Litlmiss Ashley

I have a ranger/rogue combo and I'm not sure what to take as my next level. She is 2/2 right now. Do you need more than 2 levels of rogue in order to get the high level traps? I have maxed out my rogue skills at every level. I will post stats later. I need some advice. Thanks.

Rogueness

Your trap abilty, and overall rogueness, is seriously dependent on WHEN you get your rogue levels.
When you level in ranger course you dump points into spot and search and your rogue skills are cross class then, so every now and then, you will have to stop to get a new rogue level, and dump into disable device (and MAYBE open Lock). It depends on how far you want to go INTO the Ranger class, and how far you want to rogue?
I generaly say perfect split 10/10 (or now 8/Cool is a terrible idea. What you need to remember are your key ability levels.

Key Rouge Levels
1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19 - Sneak Attack +1d6
2 - Evasion
4 - Uncanny Dodge
8 - Improved Uncanny Dodge
10, 13, 15 - Rogue Ablities (Improved Evasion, Slippery Mind, Crippling Strike, Skill Mastery, Ect)

Key Ranger Levels
1,5,10,15,20 - Favored Enemy
2 - Rapid Shot / Two Weapon
3 - Diehard
6 - Improved Two Weapon / Many shot
9 - Evasion
11 - Greater Two Weapon / Percice Shot/ Improved Precise Shot
12 - Max AC from Barkskin

1 - Your AP for Dex, doesnt stack with each other
2 - Prestige Paths are at 6 - 12 - 18 So keep that in mind
3 - Over all, your rogue skills will be greatly dependent on WHEN was your last rogue level

What I think over all end game set up, 12 Ranger , 5 Rogue , 1 Monk
Or if you want to maintian rogue ness, 12 Ranger , 6 Rogue (tempest 2 / Theif-Acrobat 1)
If you want to have SOLID rogue skills, cross class your rogue skills every now and then, and maybe take one or rogue levels at the end of leveling ness.

My first 2 levels were rogue. I was thinking of doing 6 rogue/10 ranger. I just wasn't sure if that would be a useful character.

That would be a fine charicter, but go ahead and plan for the lvl 20, and keep it in mind with enhancements and things of that nature.
I was just showing you cut off points where you can easly stop leveling in one class or another.

Jeram is my current mutt build... The ides was to be a tempest rogue witha few levels of fighter for the feats...

Currently he is 8 Rogue / 6 Ranger / 2 Ftr and is a blast to play. Endgame I am looking at 10 Rogue / 6 Ranger / 4 Fighter, or 12 Rogue / 6 Ranger / 2 Fighter...

Buffed my rogue skills are in the low to mid 50's without my skill boosts.... Two weapon damage is solid and ranged damage is decent also. I need some equipment upgrades to push his AC up...

Given that Tempest will be modified I am going to take a hit, but not enough to force a reroll Smile

I was also thinking about taking a few lvls of fighter. I'm not sure.... I leveled her tonight. She is now 2 rogue/ 3 ranger.

Ok...Litlmiss is now 2 rogue/4 ranger. I keep my spot, search, open lock, disable, move silent, and hide skills maxed each level. I was wanting to make her 2 rogue/2 fighter/ 12 ranger. ( I just like even numbers Very Happy) I know fighters get one extra feat at first level, is there a benefit to taking a second level?? Do I have to take any more levels of rogue to be useful in high level quests??

You will also get a bonus feat on the 2nd fighter level.
2 rogue/2 fighter/ 12 ranger.
This is a fine split. All the abilities of a Ranger, mixed iwth bonus feats and full trap disabling capabilities.

Litlmiss is now lvl 7. She is 2 Rogue/4 Ranger/1 Fighter. Lvl 8 I will take another fighter level and the rest will be ranger.
