Well, American Thanksgiving.
Canadian Thanksgiving was last month.

Thankful to have all of you as my extended guild family.

The Abbot Raid - A quick and dirty guide

Post  Strype McClaine on Sat Dec 20, 2008 11:03 pm

After working with some fairly nice folks, I received a bit of a walk through for the Abbot. At minimum, this is required reading

ok folks with recent success' with some static
friends around server the abbott has fallen more frequently. However
this raid still requires time and patience...most likely will not be
done on the first several attempts till the puzzles are practiced.

Ice Wand Puzzle-If
u can aim with wand to create an Ice island this puzzle is cake. Its
by far the easiest of the 3. Jump, Haste, and leapfrog each other.
However only ONE ice island can be created while the wands cool down
resets. Cast, Both jump over, other person casts both jump over. Very
routine and if u cant master it REROLL.

Asteroid Endurance-Pretty
much gotta stay on a platform without being knocked off by an asteroid
that knocks u around. Again can be defeated easily if we use summons.
Create Undead:Ghouls works fabulous, upon casting have dispel loaded
and break them. WHen broken flesh to stone them to create a wall on
platform. Stone as many as you can and turtle up, youll have like 20
sec before the rocks fly. Can lengthen persons on puzzle by Tru
rezzing a person we pull thru upon teleportation. If this Puzzle isnt
solved party must recall and redo.

Phase Goggle Puzzle-This
puzzle USED to be the bane of this quest, a large room with Tiles that
are invisible to the runner but visible by your partner in a separate
room. Your partner must "GUIDE" you over the tiles, approved method is
like a chess board A1-A10 B1-B10 etc....BEfore prepatch there were 25%
safe tiles at any one time, that rate has been increased to 35% safe
tiles on normal scaling down to 25% safe tiles on elite settings.
Person who wears Goggles must observe pattern as it does repeat after
awhile but with so many tiles avail just find and type out the safest
course. a1-5 STOP, JumpB6-8Stop etc., that person must stop on your
command. Be aware that there is a 1-2 second chat lag across server.

Abbot is completable by finishing 2 of the 3 puzzles similar to the
SC GIant....Abbot just has inferno/monsters on his side then.

Again, the problem with this raid is that people get frustrated
with abbots puzzles and want to leave...if we are to try this patience
is the key.

With a full raiding party Abbot will teleport 6 random and leave
six behind to combat him. His teleport tatic can be easliy bypassed to
get more bodies to puzzles to increase success. Abbot retreats at 50%
Health so before he leaves we designate who dies, usually melee, and
teleporters carry their stones to the puzzles. Asteroid puzzle sets up
walls and rezs their person, but he does not take rez right away...wait
till rez timer is almost up then hit it to extend chances of survival.
extra bodies = extra chances at both Phase goggle and Asteroid
puzzles.

Gear needed for this raid...

-Dimension Door Scrolls

-Tru Rez clickies(preferred), Ability to raise dead in some capacity.

-Ability to listen and not get frustrated, patience

Spells needed-

-Abbot is immune to 4th level and lower, Disintegrate, Force Missle,
Delay Blast are all fabulous...immune to cold and electrical attacks.

-Create Undead/Ghouls

-Summon MOnster IV-spider

-Dispel, Grtr Dispel preferred

Rumor has it that the next mod will make the Abbot doable again without cheating. Anyone else hear this or can confirm it? If so maybe we should take the time and flag for it as little as that excites me. How about this coming weekend?

Jeram and Xorrek need at least half of them each.....

I would like to try the Abbot as well. However, I don't think I have a toon with anymore than 2 pieces. Most have zero.
